Malagos Calamansi Juice

As of July 6, 2020, the total number of coronavirus cases in the Philippines is already at  46, 333. The Department of Health recorded a total of 31, 015 active cases-- 28, 925 cases were identified to be mild, 1,845 asymptomatic, 214 severe, and 31 are critical.

These days, more than anything, we need to make sure we are healthy and fit. On top of following all the rules and regulations implemented by the government, it is also very important to be mindful of what we eat. More than having disinfectants and masks, shifting to a healthy lifestyle is our utmost protection against the virus. With this in mind, we have rounded up five easy to do healthy recipes you can start with. These are all simple and convenient especially if you are still starting on this journey.

This is a fresh salad made with lettuce, dill, and basil. For the dressing, you will be needing 1 cup silken tofu, ¼ cup dill, 1 cup cilantro, 1 cup parsley, ½ cup green onions, juice of one lemon, 4 garlic cloves, 2 tablespoons vinegar (but if you want to add an extra kick to it, you should definitely try out Malagos Homegrown Produce’s chocolate vinaigrette), and ⅓ cup almond milk. Blend it all together and add it to the greens. It is then mixed with buttered croutons and a creamy almond milk and voila! A simple healthy meal for the family. If you are a sucker for desserts but don’t want to gain weight, with only 175g calories, 12g carbs, 8g fats, and 18g of proteins, this recipe is the bomb!  In order to make this, you will be needing:⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

60g of unsweetened almond milk

19g of vegan peanut butter cereal milk protein

6g of chocolate pb2

5g of cocoa

1/4 tsp of baking powder

24g of peanut butter ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Except for the peanut butter, simply mix everything in a bowl. Warm it up in the oven for at least 40-45 seconds, top it off with the peanut butter and a guilt-free, healthy, sweet treat is served! To check out more recipes like this, you can follow them on Instagram.

Craving for a snack? This cheesy healthy treat is a must try! You will only need:

Unsalted butter

Half and half (water and cornstarch)

Minced garlic

Fresh broccoli florets

Freshly grated pepper jack cheese

Parmesan cheese

Cream cheese

Melt the butter and whisk in the flour until fully mixed. Then, gently pour the half water, half cornstarch mixture. After which, you can put in the broccoli. Mix everything together and stir until cooked. This is a very easy one pan recipe which also makes cleaning a little bit hassle free.  Checkout this website for more easy one-pan recipes you’d want to try.

This is a must try for banana lovers out there. It is very easy to make! You only need one mashed large banana, 2 tablespoon butter, one tablespoon maple syrup, 1 cup oats, ⅓ cup uncooked quinoa, 1/3 cup slivered almonds, cinnamon, and a dash of salt and pepper.

Simply mix all wet ingredients. After this, add in the dry ingredients. Pack the mixture tightly on a lined baking tray. Bake it at 350° for 25-45 mins. Allow to cool and break it into chunks. A refreshing healthy drink once in a while is always a good choice. This only includes four ingredients: Limoncello-- a classic Italian liqueur made from sugar, water, alcohol with a zest of lemon, gin, lime juice, and fresh thyme. Mix it all together, put in ice, and a refreshing drink on a hot day is served. If you like this recipe, you can subscribe to their website here.  If Limoncello is unavailable, a zesty tangy calamansi juice can be used as a substitute. What better way to go than one that is made from homegrown calamansi? Check out Malagos Homegrown Produce for a one of a kind calamansi juice to mix this awesome drink with.
